The magic-user skilled in the talents of form can alter his own body, those
of others, and objects that he comes into contact with. He can be a healer or the
death of thousands. Walk carefully around one with such power.

Form
AWAKENED: Form is most often awakened as a type of
healing; 'restoring of shape' is the most basic Form ability and the easiest. It
is often also awoken in times of sheer emotion, when the sorcerer may change himself
into something or may change the shape of something else.
Form Scars are usually a permanent change to the sorcerer
reflecting a change he was trying to create. While this may seem an 'easy' way to
permanently change into something, that would be a terrible mistake; for the Scar
is hideously painful for the rest of his life, or is twisted in some way.
INITIATE: The key word of the Initiate Sorcerer is DETECT
The Initiate Sorcerer is able to detect the inner form of things. He can use this
knowledge to determine state of health and/or injury and to perform first aid and
detect illness. He will also be able to discern the density of objects and learn
the true size and shape of an object that is partially hidden from view.
APPRENTICE: The key word of the Apprentice Sorcerer is AFFECT
The Apprentice Sorcerer can shift shapes, changing himself or another person/object
into a form or being of similar structure. He may not alter the mass or density
of his target or effect changes that exceed his own body mass. He also has the
ability to speed the healing process of himself and others.
MAGE: The key word of the Mage Sorcerer is CREATE
The Mage Sorcerer can now shapeshift into living forms unlike his natural one,
altering density and making small additions or reductions to mass. He can mimic
non-living forms, but his tissues will not truly change into the material it resembles.
He can also make minor changes to the appearances of other living beings and completely
heal all non-critical injuries.
ADEPT: The key word of the Adept Sorcerer is CONTROL
The Adept Sorcerer is the ultimate healer and can shift his form at will. He can
alter his mass to become a fly on the wall or change a person into a pig.
LOST ABILITIES: It is said that once Wizards could
perform perfect metamorphoses, assuming the essence and not just the form of his
new shape. True shapeshifting can now only be done with the aid of the Lifesong
skill.
Hazards of Form Magic:
The magic-user with this talent can learn to alter the physical condition and/or
appearance of any non-living or living subject. Complicated changes require high
levels of experience, while simple effects can be mastered by an apprentice. The
more complicated the change, the longer it will take. Repeating the same alteration
again and again will quicken the process. Learning a new shape or appearance may
require several days to master, while only a few minutes are needed for familiar
forms. The time needed to heal an individual depends on the extent of the repairs
that are needed.
Non-living forms will retain the changes that were made while living forms will
tend to revert. The higher the level of the caster, the longer it will take for
the spell to "unravel." The tendency of the spell to unwind is directly related
to the stress that is created by the form as it attempts to regain its natural
structure. Drastic changes to the form will cause greater stress than small ones.
Living creatures have a sense of self that will actively resist changes to their
form--the longer a sorcerer actively maintains a spell, however, the more likely
the creature will become resigned to its new shape and 'grow into it.' In the
case of healing, good health is the form's natural state and will not reverse.
There is an exception to this is if the healing spell is cast on a body that is
no-longer alive or if there is a toxin or other situation that is causing ongoing
damage. In that case, normal decomposition/effects will resume. If the will and
spirit of the subject has attuned to its deformity, it may also revert.
